Last week, WorkingMouse had the privilege of attending the Buy Queensland Supplier Awards. WorkingMouse was nominated and won a finalist award for "Putting Queenslander's First". The Buy Queensland Supplier Awards is an annual recognition event to celebrate businesses that have embraced the Buy Queensland Approach. Through their collaboration with the Queensland Government, the finalists of businesses significantly contribute to the Queensland spirit of good jobs, better services, and a great lifecycle.

The "Putting Queenslander's First" Award, acknowledges businesses who have made significant local contributions. Businesses can do this by generating quality jobs for Queenslander's and supporting the local community through direct government supply. The Buy Queensland initiative is important to us at WorkingMouse because it has helped us grow, with each contract opening more doors. More importantly, it has allowed for us to onboard more local employees and invest in the local community.

Our Impact on QLD

We have been delivering software solutions since 2012 demonstrating to Buy Queensland's 'Putting Queenslander's First' ethos through our commitment to local employment and Queensland suppliers, paid traineeships, a scholarship, and sponsorships supporting diversity and inclusivity. Training local Queensland talent was fundamental to our values. Giving undergraduates the practical skills, to work on software projects for Queensland businesses, encouraging knowledge exchange and collaboration in the tech industry. Over the past year, we've invested nearly $812,000 in 56 Queensland suppliers, many of whom are local. To be recognised and awarded the finalist award for "Putting Queenslander's First" is a huge achievement for everyone at WorkingMouse.

The Buy Queensland initiative has not only boosted the state's economy but has acknowledged the contributions of local top suppliers such as us at WorkingMouse. We aim to and strive to continue contributing to the Queensland spirit and leave a legacy for current and future generations by supporting the local community. We feel proud and honoured to be recognised by the Queensland Government Buy QLD initiative through our award. The Buy QLD initiative was introduced in 2017, and since has brought $109 billion into the Queensland economy. Additionally, this initiative has created employment opportunities for 11,500 Queenslander's, boosting the state's economy and well-being of it's residents. Moreover, the initiative is more than just an economic strategy, it's also a commitment to securing a better future for Queensland.
